Details

Pelsi is the one with leather on it: small leather details set into the felt upper, which is what separates it from the plainer Halla and Mustja mules.

Worth knowing before washing: the leather labels and details can change in appearance after a wash, so wash the pair only when it genuinely needs it.

Material

Natural wool felt with leather details on the upper, on a light rubber outsole. The felt is the warm part and the leather is the part that will patinate, so the pair does not stay looking new and is not meant to.

Maker

Omaking is a family shoe workshop in southern Estonia that has been making footwear since 1927. It works in natural wool felt and lambswool, cuts and sews by hand, and keeps the range small. TOKU is its design line, drawn by Piibe Tomp, named Estonian Young Designer of the Year in 2018.

Size & Fit

Sizes run in pairs: 35/36, 37/38, 39/40, 41/42, 43/44, 45/46 and 47/48.

Unisex. If you are between two sizes, take the larger pair.

Wool felt gives a little with wear, so a snug pair loosens rather than the other way round.

Care

Take off pilling with a fabric shaver or a razor. Wool felt pills, and it is not a fault.
Hand wash, or machine wash at 30 °C on the wool programme with a gentle spin, inside a laundry bag.
Use a mild wool detergent. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry.
Air dry away from radiators, dryers and underfloor heating.
Washing can change the look of the leather labels.

A workshop that has been making shoes in Estonia since 1927, still cutting felt by hand. Wool felt is warm without being airless, which is why a pair works on a heated floor as well as on a cold one. When they need it, they go in the machine at 30 °C and come back in shape.
