Editor's note
Tæwas is the silk line of Tanel Veenre, the Estonian jewellery artist and professor at the Estonian Academy of Arts. His sky and cloud drawings, a winged seahorse among them, are printed on 100% mulberry silk at 22 momme: heavier than the 16 to 19 momme common in silk sleepwear. Two cuts, four colourways, sizes S/M and L/XL.
Silk, explained
What does 22 momme mean?
Momme is the unit for the weight of silk fabric. Most silk sleepwear is made between 16 and 19 momme. Tæwas uses 22 momme mulberry silk, a heavier and denser fabric than the usual range.
Who is Tanel Veenre?
An Estonian jewellery artist and designer, born in Tallinn, and a professor at the Estonian Academy of Arts since 2012. Tæwas carries his sky and cloud drawings onto silk.
What is the difference between the long and the short set?
The long set is a button front shirt with long sleeves and drawstring trousers, in Blue Sky and Sunset. The short set is a camisole on fine straps with drawstring shorts, in Blue and Beige.
Which sizes are available?
Every set comes in S/M and L/XL. The size guide is on each product page.
Silk or linen pyjamas?
Silk is smooth and fluid against the skin; linen is textured and breathes. Our journal compares the two in Silk vs linen pyjamas.
