Editor's note
Snøluv's linen comes from three makers. Linen Tales makes dresses and waffle towels in Lithuania from stonewashed European flax, and sews its pyjamas, loungewear and waffle bathrobe to order. KOOSdisain makes towels, bathrobes and sauna linen in Estonia. Zezuzulla sews children's linen sun hats in Poland. Each product page gives the composition and the fabric weight.
Linen, explained
Why choose linen?
Linen is woven from flax fibre. It absorbs moisture, dries faster than cotton and softens with washing rather than wearing thin, which makes it practical for summer clothing, pyjamas and towels used every day.
What does stonewashed linen mean?
The fabric is washed after weaving to soften the fibre and take away the stiffness of new linen. Linen Tales uses stonewashed linen, so its dresses and pyjamas feel soft from the first wear.
How do I wash linen?
Most linen can be machine washed on a gentle programme and dried on a line. Creases are part of the fabric; iron it slightly damp for a smoother finish. The care instructions on each product page come from the maker and take priority.
Is linen good for the sauna?
Yes. Linen towels and sauna sheets are a long habit in Finnish and Estonian saunas because linen dries quickly between uses. KOOSdisain makes linen sauna skirts, seat covers and towels in Estonia, and Linen Tales makes waffle towels in Lithuania.
