Details

TOKU is the design line within Omaking, drawn by Piibe Tomp. The insole is what sets it apart from the plain felt mules: arch support and a slightly raised heel, which is unusual in a slipper and is the reason a pair can be worn all day.

Dark green is the only Brussels with a real lambswool lining sewn in as a separate layer. The other five are lambswool felt on both faces. That makes this the warmest of the six, and the one that softens most with wear.

Material

A natural lambswool felt upper with a separate lining of 100% lambswool. The lining traps more air than felt does, so this pair runs warmer than the unlined Brussels colours. Insole shaped with arch support; outer sole and heel in PU coated black microfibre.

Maker

Omaking is a family shoe workshop in southern Estonia that has been making footwear since 1927. It works in natural wool felt and lambswool, cuts and sews by hand, and keeps the range small. TOKU is its design line, drawn by Piibe Tomp, named Estonian Young Designer of the Year in 2018.

Size & Fit

Single sizes, 36 to 47.

Unisex. The lambswool felt moulds to the foot and gives a little over time, so take your usual size.

The insole has arch support and a slightly raised heel, so a pair sits differently underfoot from a flat slipper.

Care

Air them out after wearing and wash as rarely as the pair allows.
Take off pilling with a fabric shaver or a razor. Wool felt pills, and it is not a fault.
Spot clean, or hand wash cool with a mild wool detergent if they need more.
Do not machine wash, do not bleach and do not tumble dry: the coated sole is not made for it.
Air dry away from radiators and underfloor heating, and reshape them while damp.
