Details

Budapest is Brussels with the back closed. Same lambswool felt, same shaped insole, but the heel is enclosed, so the pair stays on going up stairs where an open back does not.

The peek hole is not decoration. A closed slipper in wool felt would run hot without it.

Material

Natural lambswool felt for the upper and the lining. The insole is shaped, with arch support and a slightly raised heel. Closed heel and toe, with a small peek hole cut into the upper so the enclosed shape still breathes.

Maker

Omaking is a family shoe workshop in southern Estonia that has been making footwear since 1927. It works in natural wool felt and lambswool, cuts and sews by hand, and keeps the range small. TOKU is its design line, drawn by Piibe Tomp, named Estonian Young Designer of the Year in 2018.

Size & Fit

Single sizes, 36 to 47.

Unisex. The lambswool felt moulds to the foot and gives a little over time, so take your usual size.

The insole has arch support and a slightly raised heel, so a pair sits differently underfoot from a flat slipper.

The heel and toe are closed, so allow for a snugger fit than an open back.

Care

Air them out after wearing and wash as rarely as the pair allows.
Take off pilling with a fabric shaver or a razor. Wool felt pills, and it is not a fault.
Spot clean, or hand wash cool with a mild wool detergent if they need more.
Do not machine wash, do not bleach and do not tumble dry: the coated sole is not made for it.
Air dry away from radiators and underfloor heating, and reshape them while damp.
