M77 Norwegian Combat Boots, Black
M77 Norwegian Combat Boots
The M77, a combat boot first issued to the Norwegian army more than 50 years ago, made in Estonia by Samelin in thick black leather.
- 2.8 to 3 mm full grain leather
- Direct injected PU sole
- Removable washable insole
- EU sizes 32 to 52
Details
The M77 took ten years to develop for the Norwegian army, which wanted a boot that was hard wearing, comfortable, resistant to moisture and easy to maintain. It is still made to that design: thick full grain leather, steel and polyurethane, and nothing else.
Like any full leather boot it takes time to wear in. After that it is the boot you keep.
Material
Upper in 2.8 to 3 mm full grain leather, treated to repel water. Light Cambrelle textile lining under the tongue. Direct injected PU outsole. The anatomical insole is shock absorbing, antibacterial, breathable and washable, and comes out.
Maker
Samelin is a boot factory in Estonia. It makes the M77, a combat boot first issued to the Norwegian army more than 50 years ago, and has made hiking boots for more than 20 years. Production follows the NATO AQAP 2110 quality standard and ISO 9001.
Size & Fit
EU sizes 32 to 52, unisex.
The M77 runs large: it is meant to be worn with thermal or double socks. For freezing weather, the M77 inner socks are made to fit inside it. A size chart in centimetres is among the photos.
Care
Brush off dirt and wipe the leather with a damp cloth.
Let wet boots dry slowly at room temperature, away from radiators and direct heat.
Keep the leather greased or waxed so it stays supple and water repellent.
Full leather boots take a little time to wear in.
